There is a place in the world
where man is still part of nature
Registered Peruvian Civil Association 2009-00021784
WHO ARE WE?
The Chontachaka Civil Association is an environmental non profit organization. It was created in Perú in 2009 in order to work for the defense and conservation of the Amazonian Woods and the lives they sustain.
Chontachaka is the collaborative effort of volunteers and professionals with experience in natural studies, ecology, ecotourism, health, education, etc. – people who through years and for different reasons have been involved in the marvelous world of the Amazon jungle.
The Association and its projects grow up thanks to the hugh hope and economic
contributions from asmallgroup of founders and new collaborators.
WHAT DO WE DO AND WHY?
We work out of the Qosñipata Valley, in the Manu Biosphere Reserve:
. Improving the project headquarters and our lodge in the Peruvian jungle; a place for workers,
volunteers and Chontachaka associates.
. Elaborating programs to protect large woodland areas as an alternative to predatory practices
. Cooperating with Native Communities and supporting their cultural traditions. Medicinal
plants.
. Reforesting and Maintaining the jungle
. We look to work in a team, create networks and for the support of people and institutions that
want to collaborate.
Chontachaka seeks to protect endangered regions in nature (native communities, fauna and flora), and to stimulate local development with sustainable propositions, working in conjunction with local and first communities.
We understand… there are large economic interests, interests of power who make wealth by turning everyone's paradise (our common home) into a true hell.
Only in Peru, the Amazon has a surface of 78 million hectares, out of which 75% have been conceded to petrol and wood extraction corporations for exploration and extraction, sometimes overlapping numerous indigenous communities. As of now, 9 million hectares of the Amazon woodland has been devastated.
Awareness is not enough… (being aware yet not being involved, is that not being part of the problem?). We need to act now and with a sense of urgency!.
We are pushing for a great change that comes from within each of us and which connects us directly with our love for the Pachamama (Mother Earth).
This is one option (the joint efforts of many different parties), one way to take part in such a change
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
We need contributions in order to face the work ahead of us, to cover important expenses and in order to meet large environmental challenges. We need people with an altruistic spirit and an ecological conscience.
If you are pained by the destruction of the world´s forests, you are already one of us.
If you also want to give us a hand and sponsor us: Welcome!!
